The Women's Surf Fishing Club of NJ, Inc. was organized in 1952. It was the first surf-fishing club established for women on the East Coast. The purpose of WSFC is to promote the sport of surf fishing, endorse marine conservation and inspire camaraderie among women as well as encourage participation in events that benefit women’s causes.
The club’s members are comprised of women of all ages, backgrounds, and professions. We embrace the novice angler and learn from the experienced angler. The social aspect of the club opens doors to new experiences and friendships.
The WSFC elects its officers annually. Currently Reggi Vasta is our President, Donna Schepis is Vice-President, Doreen Szczepanski is our Treasurer, and Kayla Rhinesmith is our Secretary.
The WSFC also has several committees headed by appointed chairs. The committees are Membership, Tournament, Affidavit, Marketing/PR, and Banquet. You’ll meet the current chairs of these committees throughout the website.
To join WSFC a Membership Application is filled out and submitted for approval. Once the applicant is approved, she pays dues of $30.00 by sending a check to the membership chair whose name and address is on the application.
To remain a member in good standing with WSFC, dues must be paid each year by December 31st for the following year and members must comply to our Constitution and By-Laws. Our year runs from January 1st to December 31st. We fish between 9 and 11 ASAC sanctioned Tournaments a year, hosted by other teams. The WSFC sponsors any club members who fish on our team(s). We also have a tournament program which is an intra-club competition.
Club awards and trophies are given at the Annual Awards Banquet in April. To qualify for club awards, members must have their dues up to date, attend at least two (2) club functions a year and CATCH FISH of course! Please see Tournament Program and www.asaconline.org for more information.
WSFC hosts our own ASAC sanctioned tournament each year in September. All members are urged to help out. This tournament is how we make our money for the year’s tournament fees, bait, awards, and other expenses.
The WSFC promotes “catch and release”….Therefore it is not necessary to kill your fish to be measured. NJ State laws on size and bag limits apply to all registered fish.
Schedules for the ASAC sponsored tournaments can be obtained from www.asaconline.org.
